ABOUT

Hi, I am Liuyin Shi. Welcome to my homepage :p

I am 3rd year computer engineering student at McMaster University(2014-2018/2019). I learnt a lot from the school about coding and digital hardware there. And of course, the basics of being a team player in engineering.

This is the website to present my experiences, skills and interests/hobbies. The details are shown in different divisions of this web page.

SKILLS

Software Skills

My coding skills come from my interest and knowledge of work. I learnt Java by myself and C/C++ through some projects.For script language, I know Python and Javascript. You can see my work from this web :p. And for sure, some front-end knowledge of HTML, CSS, JS with framework. This web is built with JQuery, Bootstrap.

Apart from the programming languages, I went through the algorithm and operating system courses.

Volunteering Experiences

McMaster IEEE Student Branch

At McMaster I joined IEEE student branch. I became a member since my first year of my ECE career. At student branch, we organize the parts, equipments ordering and provide technical help for students with their academics and technical skills like soldering. We also organize activities like shool-wide programming challenge, autoCAD training and services for milling.


Experiences

McMaster Programming Challenge

My teammates and I entered the programming competition held by IEEE student branch in 2015 and 2016. The competition are open to all students including Phd and graduate students from all departments. The competition is held on HackerRank for testing players' algorithm/problem solving ability.

  • 4th in 2015 out of 21
  • 7th in 2016 out of 24



Deltahacks 3 McMaster Hackthon Web Project

  • 24 hours of development for a mobile/desktop web app that can track user’s location in real-time and search for the places of interest and givesthe brief speech about the closet when walking nearby.
  • Using Bootstrap, JQuery and Google API for development

Photography

I am a photography lover, I shoot both digital and film camera. I use Nikon D80, FM2, Canon Kiss X5 and Ricoh GRII. Here are some photos taken by me.

I am not the guy who care a lot about equipments. I focus more one 'photography' than cameras.
